Learning outcomes: Knowledge Student knows the rules of shaping, arranging and care of green areas, basic information of the types of urban greenery and alternative forms of urban greenery (green roofs, green walls); knows impact of infrastructure and engineering works on urban greenery and role of green areas in creation of acoustic climate. Skills Student can assess the impact of green areas on forming of urban environment;
Competences: Student recognizes the importance of waste management for sustainable development, understands the need of avoiding generation of waste, their use and reducing of amount of waste deposited in landfills.
Prerequisites: hydrology and meteorology, drainage, irrigation, , physics and chemistry of soil
Course content: The legal basis for waste management. Classification, physical, mechanical and chemical properties of waste. Forecasting of quantities of waste. Reducing the amount of waste. Waste management in local government units. Separate collection and segregation of waste. Composting of waste. Collection and transportation of waste. Thermal utilization of municipal waste. Hazardous waste. Landfills: the types, location, construction and operation. Landfills reclamation.
