Knowledge
At the end of the course the participants will be familiar with the theoretical foundations of capture of multispectral aerial- and spaceborne imagery of atmosphere, land and water. The acquired knowledge will include methods of multispectral data processing for identification and characterisation of land cover features. The participants will also be able to select and fuse sets of suitable type of remote sensing data sources for a particular purpose.
Skills
At the end of the course the participants will be able use the remote sensing data processing software package. The participants will be able to carry out supervised and unsupervised classification of multispectral data; to perform the principal component analysis of multispectral data, to perform raster to vector conversion and others. The participants will be able prepare an accuracy statement of the image classification and statistical reports. The participants will also possess operational skills of selecting of a suitable set of data to achieve desired outcome.
Expected societal development
At the end of the course the participants will gain a broader and a contemporary view of the applications of remote sensing for monitoring and assessment of environment at various scales. The participants will understand the merit and needs of studying of the environment at all scales, and not on local scale only. The participants understand an ever-changing character of remote sensing and a need for continuous education efforts in this field.
