PolishLearning outcomes:
Knowledge:
• the student has an extended knowledge in selected areas of physics, chemistry and biology, necessary to describe the processes occurring in the renewable energy and waste management, including the knowledge necessary to understand the physical phenomena and processes during the energy production from renewable sources, including the products and waste from plant and animal sources
• the student has an extended knowledge in the field of biofuels and processes, use of biomass, including waste biomass from agricultural and animal sources
• the student has extensive knowledge in the field of protection of intellectual property and copyright and patent laws, can effectively use the resources of patent information, is aware of the need for management of intellectual property, and also knows the basic safety rules in force in the economy, energy and waste management
• the student has an extended knowledge in the field of the natural environmental and its protection and the dangers encountering it in a global society
• the student has ordered and theoretically founded knowledge of systems, technologies, techniques, equipment and tools used in waste management
Skills:
• the student has the ability to find, understand, analyze and creative use of information from literature, databases, and other sources; is able to integrate the information obtained, to make their interpretation, as well as draw conclusions and formulate and justify opinions
• the student is able to identify and determine the specificity of engineering tasks and develop documentation on the task of engineering and prepare the text that discusses the results of this task
• the student is able to assess technical solutions and to analyze the factors affecting the quality of life and human health and animals and the environment also determine the life cycle of technical systems
• the student able to solve, based on standard engineering operation, production problems and operating in the field of waste management and renewable energy sources, taking into account the requirements for environmental care
Competences:
Social competence:
• the student is able to make a careful analysis of his task in terms of determining the appropriate priorities including the role of each of its contractors
Prerequisites:
Basic knowlegde in physics and mathematics, sources of emissions Course content:
Theme of the classes is pollution dispersion modelling with an accent on waste management. Basics of gas physics. Dispersion modelling with software or by hand. Theory of emission sources and dispersion. Factors of influence on pollution dispersion into the atmosphere. Types of pollution dispersion models. Gaussian plume models of the older generation (formula of Pasquille). Gaussian models of the new generation. Dispersion of emission that are not matter: odours from anaerobic MBP and noise from incinerators. Calculation of the effective hight of the stack of an incinerator. Calculation of dysperion in dependency of atmospheric conditions and the terrain type. Recommended literature:
