Knowledge:
student knows the statistical methods used when analyzing genomes of animals; student knows classes of genetic markers; student knows principles of genome wide association and phenomenon of linkage disequilibrium.
Skills:
student is able to study and analyze data of biological (molecular) origin using bioinformatics methods; student is able to use statistical methods and computer software to study and analyze phenomenon of linkage disequilibrium and quantitative traits locus (QTL); student determines mapping genes of large effects; student can prepare final project.

The overall purpose of the course is to provide students with theoretical background and practical skills concerning genetic markers, linkage disequilibrium (LD) and its measures, mapping genes of large effects (QTL) using LD, marker assisted selection (MAS), and factors affecting the accuracy of genome-wide association study and genomic selection.Recommended literature:
