Learning outcomes: Knowledge Student knows possibilities of obtaining water easily accessible for the environment, small scale retention types and methods of its creation, knows effective methods to improve soil water balance, knows the rules of the implementation of the small scale retention program, technical and nature- agricultural methods of forming small scale retention, has knowledge of management in catchment to improve retention. Skills Student is able to solve the problems associated with the introduction and evolution of small scale retention in area unit (catchment, district, community, region); working in groups dealing with protection and landscaping.

Competences: Understands the need for a comprehensive troubleshooting of sustainable rural development and the impact of engineering on the environment.

Prerequisites: drainage, irrigation, comprehensive land development

Course content: Water resources in Poland. Forms and types of small scale retention. Methods of forming small scale retention. Retention in reservoir, river valleys, slopes and mountainous areas. Soil retention. Methods of forming retention by agrotechnical, agromeliorative and fitomeliorative methods. Significance of lake, pond, wetlands and peatlands in the formation of ground retention resource. Retention comprehensive and its nature-economic significance.
