Knowledge: Student knows the basic and universal terminology in the field of animal husbandry, knows the basic types and utility breeds of farm animal species, understands the phenomenon of growth of the animal, knows the types of usability, selection, mating and crossing and be familiarized with animals reproduction basics, shows the knowledge of animals identification methods.
Skills: Student assigns the breed to a specific type of utility; analyzes the pedigree of the animal; analyzes the growth of animals; calculates coefficients of kinship and inbreeding; knows the functionsof zoometric tools.Competences:
Student: understands the importance of animals to humans; has the correct attitude to animals; is aware of the consequences of using certain methods of farming; is prepared to use breeding methods in the herd.Prerequisites:
Physiology, geneticsCourse content:
Domestication of animals and its effects; growth and development, animal reproduction basics; utility types of animals, livestock division on the groups, phenotypic and genetic value of quantitative traits, selection, types of mating and crossing of animals, pedigree, animals age identification, estimating of kinship and inbreeding coefficients, the principles of measurement methods, animal identification methods.Recommended literature:
