K1 - explains the working principles of most important instruments used in the laboratory of cell biology, uses the mathematical and statistical methods to analyze results obtained [BC1_W01, BC1_W02, BC1_W03];
K2 - knows the structure and function of cell organelles, understands the biochemical regulation of cellular processes, explains the molecular mechanisms of selected diseases [BC1_W05, BC1_W07];
K3 - explains the molecular basis of eukaryotic cells evolution, knows the main issues of cell biology currently discussed in the literature, understand the risks and the ethical problems related to the molecular biology development [BC1_W06, BC1_W19];
K4 - knows the basics principles of aseptic and safe work in chemical laboratory [BC1_W21].

Skills
Student:
S1- is able to plan and carry out the basic laboratory experiments in order to recognize and describe the molecular structure and function of cell [BC1_U14];
S2- uses the basic instruments in the laboratory of cell biology, solve simple research problems of biochemistry and molecular biology, performs appropriate calculations, prepares reports, works in accordance with the lab procedures [BC1_U01, BC1_U02];
S3-uses proper available information sources to learn and planning experiments [BC1_U17];
S4 - is able to prepare report, essay and present main topics of cell biology also using foreign sources [BC1_U18].Competences:

Course content:
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the molecular organization of cell structures, their function and dynamics. Basic knowledge concerning cellular skeleton, cytokinesis and the role of motor proteins in maintaining the structure and function of the cell. The nucleus and genome organization. Chloroplasts, mitochondria and peroxisomes as call energy system. The biosynthesis of proteins and membranes, post-translational modifications, intracellular vesicular traffic. Another objective is to provide students with current knowledge about cell cultures in vitro. Important issue is to facilitate understanding of the molecular aspects of cellular processes regulation by examples from pathology. Experimental course will permit students to get acquainted with the cell fractionation and analysis techniques used in modern cell biology. Recommended literature:

Will be performed as a 60 min test consisting from opened problematic questions. To completethe course, it is necessary to obtain sufficient minimum of 50% of the points.
Pracicals assesment:
Required conditions: full attendance at laboratory classes, positive marks from all reports and final colloquium. Final note will be an average calculated from all notes obtained during exercises.Comment:
Lab exercisesare conducted by 5 weeks (2-6 clock hours per week)
