W1 – knows the chemical structure of basic compounds of living organism and their biological functions [KB_W05, KB_W06];
W2 – has basic knowledge on enzymes and enzymatic catalysis [KB_W05];
W3 - describes the basic metabolic pathways and their regulatory mechanisms [KB_W01, KB_W05].
Skills:
Student:
U1 – has basic skills in preparation of chemical solutions and making the basic biochemical calculations [KB_U01];
U2 – performs quantitative and qualitative assays of basic biological compounds of living organism [KB_U01, KB_U12];
U3 – has basic practical training in enzymology [KB_U01, KB_U02].Competences:

K1– the course provides student with minimum set of skills and knowledge for work in the analytical or diagnostic laboratories as individual and part of the team [KB_K01, KB_K02, KB_K08].Prerequisites:

Course content:
chemical structure of the basic compounds of animal organism, selected topics of enzymology, basic metabolic pathways (mitochondrial respiratory chain and oxidative phosphorylation, carbohydrate metabolism, lipid metabolism, metabolism of aminoacids, porphyrins and nucleotides) and their regulatory mechanisms.Recommended literature:
