Learning outcomes: Knowledge -Students learn and describe the correct structure of the animal: organs and systems with emphasis on the topographic anatomy and operational. Latin names are valid. -The classes will be discussed the most common diseases of the locomotor system in terms of their precise diagnosis. -The classes will be discussed the most common musculoskeletal diseases and their possible treatments. Practical skills -They will be prepared to comply with antiseptic dressings, compression after surgery in terms of the hoof capsule. They will be able to carry out basic treatments neurektomii, desmo and tenotomy, tendon splitting. -After completion of course, students will be able to perform ultrasound and radiological examination of the horses limbs using diagnostic equipment in accordance with its intended use and safety for animals and humans. The range will include ultrasound surrounding the flexor tendon. -Students in the preparation of the theoretical and practical will be able to perform advanced orthopedic examination in the diagnosis of diseases of the musculoskeletal system in horses. -Students will be familiarized with the practical elements of arthroscopy. Students will be carried out on isolated limbs and perineural and intraarticular injections.

Competences: -Under the supervision of an orthopedic surgeon may assist students in the preparation of horses for arthroscopic surgery and other orthopedic surgery (if possible) in the monitoring and the application of infusion fluids and other medications in the postoperative period. -The classes will be presented elements of Evidence-Based Medicine. -The classes will be discussed as complications associated with surgery and conservative orthopedic diseases of horses. -During the course will be given special emphasis to have a habit of continuing to deepen knowledge and skills, to the need to verify their knowledge, consultation, tracking the latest reports in the specialized press.

Prerequisites: Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Diagnostics

Course content: Basic knowledge of equine orthopedic disease will broaden the students about the most common diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic Examination enable to give correct diagnosis of diseases of the muskulo - skeletal system. Familiarize students with the basic units of abnormal disease will help to understand the attitudes of pathology in the functioning of the thoracic an dpelvic limbs and spine diseases
