Ethical issue of working as a veterinary surgeon. Student receives knowledge about ethical aspect of veterinary profession that guides professional service in veterinary area, learns about national and European principles of working as a member of profession of public trust.Graduating the course student has basic knowledge about ethical guidelines concerning to veterinary profession.
Competences:
Student is able to place the profession in the public trust area, knows rules of veterinary professional conduct, can differentiate a professional ethical service from simply generating income.Prerequisites:
General ethics.Course content:
Profession of public trust – called “free profession”, historical outline of forming the free professions (guilds), structure and competences of self-governing organization, limitation of the profession in the field of serving a service in ethical way, medical mistakes, misconduct, veterinary professional ethics versus business ethics.Recommended literature:
