• The student has knowledge of the theory of regional development,
• Identifies endo- and exogenous factors of regional development.
• Properly define the region. Lists the criteria of regionalization. Distinguishes the concept of globalization and regionalization
• Indicates the objectives and principles of EU regional policy. Identifies the regional policy instruments.
• Knows the characteristics and determinants of local development.

• Able to assess the competitiveness of regions, evaluates development indicators

Macroeconomics, Economy Policy.Course content:
The definition of region. Criteria of regionalization. Regionalization versus globalization. Theoretical aspects of regional development.Factors of regional development.The regional policy of European Union. Stages of development.Aims and principles of regional policy.Instruments of regional and local policy.Structural funds of UE.Classification of territorial units for the needs of statistical investigations.Strategies of regional development.Regional Operating Programmes.The basic factors of the regional development. The analysis inter-regional differentiations in relation to the development factors.The typology of regions in relation to their development (the competitiveness of regions). Recommended literature:
