Learning outcomes: during the course student is learning using mathematical methods in science

Competences: after passing the course the student is able to use basic calculus tools for modeling physical and biological processes.

Prerequisites: no prerequisites

Course content: Number sequence, number series. One-variable calculus. Solving differential equations. Basics of probability theory- event, probability, discrete and continuous random variables, distribution of a random variable, cumulative distribution function of a random variable, density function of a continuous random variable. Matrices. Linear systems. Multivariable calculus- partial derivative, directional derivative, total differential, multiple integral.

Assessment methods: midterm exams: 70%; quizzes 30%.
