Student has an extended knowledge of the role and importance of landscape and sustainable management of its resources, and its threats and causes and driving forces of its changes.
He has an extended knowledge about the importance of the landscape and the necessity of planning the changes in the spatial planning as an essential element for the proper functioning and development of rural areas.
He knows the basic methods, techniques, tools and materials used during the landscape assessment for the needs of spatial planning and new investments.
Skills
He has the ability to select and modify the typical activities (including techniques and technologies) to improve the quality of human life by defining the principles of proper management of the landscape in the landscape audit
He is able to plan and carry out analysis, including measurements and computer simulations, interpret the results and draw conclusions for the management of the landscape in the spatial planning process.
He can - during formulating and solving engineering tasks - to integrate knowledge of the spatial protection and development of the environment, landscape architecture and apply a systemic approach, taking into account the non-technical aspects.
Competences:
Student can properly organize teamwork. Understands the meaning of the group leader. It has the ability to communicate effectively with the public and to persuade proposed solutions. Prerequisites:

The importance of the landscape for different social groups. Landscapes classifications. Legal basis of management and landscape planning. Landscape audit. The methods of landscape valuation used in spatial planning. Models of landscape management in European countries. Protection of the landscape in the planning documents and environmental impact assessments. Evaluation of changes in the landscape. Landscape management of urban and rural areas. Basic species of trees and shrubs.
Definition and importance of the landscape for different social groups, structure and resources of the landscape. The basic classifications of landscapes, landscapes of Lower Silesia. Causes and consequences of the negative changes in the landscape, driving forces of change in the landscape, data sources of the landscape. Legal basis for the protection, management and landscape planning, the importance of the European Landscape Convention. The legal basis for landscape protection areas - Nature Conservation Act, the law on the protection and care of monuments. The importance of the law on amendments to some laws in connection with the strengthening of tools to protect the landscape (called The Act of landscape), the tasks of local government units in the field of landscape management. Landscape management in the context of the Law on spatial planning and development, landscape audit. The method of landscape valuation used during landscape audit, the rules for determining the priority landscapes. Typology of landscapes, examples of the typology of landscapes in various European countries. Methods of valuation and assessment of landscape changes for the purpose of spatial planning. Protection of the landscape in the planning documents and environmental impact assessments. Assessment of changes in the landscape. Landscape management of urban and rural areas, functions, importance and principles of shaping the green places in urban and rural areas. The main species of trees and shrubs in Polish landscape.
