Beata Olszewska Learning outcomes:
Student knows the global problems related to irrigation, can determine water shortages.
Student has knowledge in order to design the systems of basic equipment for gravity irrigation (subsurface irrigation) and pressure (sprinkling irrigation).
Student can use the engineering studies for environmental development.
Skills
Student can assess the water needs of the plant and determine the size of the irrigation doses.
Student can design and modernize the basic elements of the system of subsurface irrigation and pressure irrigation.
Competences:
Student is aware of the responsibility for rational and efficient management of water environmental resources; understands non-economic importance of water.Prerequisites:
drainageCourse content:
The purpose of the course is acquainting students with scientific foundations and principles for designing of water management systems on the example of subsurface irrigation and sprinkling irrigation. The course pays particular attention to the ability to assess the water needs of the plants and the ability to determine the irrigation doses.
Global problems related to irrigation, the rules regulating the stream for land reclamation, calculating needs of water for irrigation, principles of dimensioning and design of the subsurface irrigation and sprinkling irrigation, action of water in the irrigation on soil, plant and climate, shortage of water, the conditions for the use of irrigation, modern systems and equipment sprinklers, irrigation dose, the frequency of irrigation, the selection of sprinklers, the effects of irrigation.
