The student after completion of the course should: - understand the processes, phenomena and interactions occurring in the environment; - the hazards and environmental pollution; - understand the short and long term processes in the natural environment; - be able to determine the causes and consequences of environmental degradation; - understand the links between the global phenomenon and anthropopressure; - be able to practically apply the norms and standards for assessing the quality of the environment; - know what action should be taken to protect the environment and what methods are used to restore the degraded or transformed by the human elements of the environment of their primary functions. Landscape protection and management in the light of the European Landscape Convention. Assessment of landscape resources. Protection of natural and cultural landscape. Forms of nature conservation and forms of preservation of historical monuments. The legal guidelines for the protection of nature and cultural resources in Poland. The European landscape protection system. The principles of drawing up protection plans. Protection of agricultural, forest and river valley landscape. Environmental management system and landscape management system. Financing of landscape protection projects.
The legal basis for landscape protection in Poland. The provisions of the Act Amending Certain Acts in Connection with the Strengthening of the Landscape Protection Tools and the European Landscape Convention. Landscape protection in areas with high natural values. Landscape protection in areas protected under the Nature Conservation Act. A protection plan as a tool for landscape protection. Spatial planning and landscape protection in Poland. Elements of an environmental impact assessment with reference to an assessment of the impact of a planned construction project and a programme/strategy plan on landscape. The principles of drawing up a landscape audit.
