During the studies the students get to know with last achievements in the production of plant protection agents, medicines, food additives by the biotechnological methods. In particular they can conduct the process of transformation of some organic compounds by means of whole cells of microorganisms as well as isolate the products formed and establish their structures. Competences:
Passing the course enables the work in the biotechnological laboratory.Prerequisites:
biology, biochemistry, microbiology, organic chemistryCourse content:
Microbial metabolism, enzymatic transformation of organic compounds, industrial production of compounds used in medicine, environmental protection, food industry by biotransformation methods with the use of enzymatic systems of living organisms, basic techniques of biotransformations.Recommended literature:
