Introduction to field crop production. Student receives knowledge on environmental conditions in which crop production is performed, learns about differences between ecosystem and agroecosystem; receives information on production technologies of most important crops, rules of their fertilization and protection. After completing the course student possesses basic knowledge about methods in field crop production that comply with idea of sustainable development. Competences:
Student is able to assess environmental conditions of a farm in which crop production is conducted and is able to choose proper crops to the conditions. He or she is able to make a decision about soil tillage, fertilization of crops and crop protection and is aware of limits in crop production imposed by protection of the environment.Prerequisites:

characteristics of field crop production, idea of sustainable development in agriculture, levels of organization in agroecosystem and its trophic structure, differences between agroecosystem and ecosystem, environmental conditions and possibilities of their control, types of fertilizers and their application, methods of crop protection, weeds and their harmfulness, cropping of cereals, root crops, grain legumes and pasture legumes, contemporary agricultural systems.Recommended literature:
