The student knows the classification of concrete structures. Stress-strain relations for concrete and reinforcing steel and ways to ensure the cooperation of reinforcing steel and concrete
The student knows the procedures for design of bending sections and shear members
The student knows the principles of cracking and deflection controls
Skills
The student knows how to design members of floor slab (slab, beams)
The student knows how to draw reinforced concrete members of floor slab
The student knows how to control cracking and deflection without direct calculation
Competences:
The student is able to work independently on a specific taskPrerequisites:
structural mechanics, strength of materials, concrete technology.Course content:
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the essence of concrete structures, mastering the methods of design and detailing of the basic members of concrete building structures.
The essence of reinforced concrete structures. Types of concrete structures (concrete, reinforced concrete, composite, prestressed). Stress-strain relations for concrete and reinforcing steel. Cooperation of concrete and reinforcing steel. General principles of design of reinforced concrete structures. Design procedures for bending sections and shear members. Detailing of bending and shear members. Control of serviceability limit states without direct calculation.
