Learning outcomes: Student has a general knowledge of the biosphere, chemical and physical processes taking place in it, basic techniques necessary to shape the environment in spatial planning. He demonstrates knowledge of the basic methods, techniques, technologies, tools and materials that allow use of the potential of nature to improve the quality of human life - in line with the principles of sustainable development He has knowledge of the role and importance of the natural environment and sustainable use of biological diversity and its threats Student has the ability to find, understand, analyze and use the necessary information from various sources and in various forms He identifies and analyzes the phenomena affecting the environment Student has the ability to take standard measures to address the problems in the field of the environment and natural resources
Competences: Student is able to interact and work in a group, taking different roles, he is aware of the risks and able to appreciate the consequences of their business planning and design in the environment, he is aware of the need for self-improvement training
Prerequisites: the basics of biology and ecology
Course content: Student learns basic processes occurring in the environment and the interrelationship of elements abiotic and biotic; the importance of natural resources and the environment as a source of economic activities and the satisfaction of social needs. He learns about the forms of nature and landscape protection in Poland. He understands the need for introduction of alternative planning solutions due to environmental conditions. The importance of natural resources in spatial planning, interaction: man and environment. Abiotic elements: 1) atmosphere and climatic diversity in Poland. 2) Lithosphere, 3) Hydrosphere, the water cycle, 4) Pedosphere, Polish agricultural soils bonitation. Biotic elements: 1) The concept of ecosystem, types of ecosystems 2) The evolution of the natural environment - the role of anthropogenic factors, types of anthropogenic impacts and response levels of natural systems. The relationship between man and the environment: 1) The possibilities of use of natural resources. 2) Natural resources as a determinant of spatial solutions - spatial ecological systems. 3) The specificity and functioning of cultural landscapes. 4) The need of nature protection. 5) Forms of nature protection in Poland. 6) Management of space in different types of landscape (urban landscapes, landscapes suburban, rural landscapes). Shaping the natural structure of the city: 1) The role of open spaces in the structure of the city. 2) Delimitation of the structures of natural value. 3) Concepts shaping of natural structures within cities (historical systems, contemporary examples). 4) Anthropogenic threats (including the phenomenon of urban sprawl, isolation and fragmentation of space, the consequences for the environment and socio-economic phenomena in disordered space).
