PolishLearning outcomes:
During the course student gains theoretical knowledge and practical skills allowing him to compare and analyze differences among nuclear and the mitochondrial genomes of animals and plants. Moreover, he will be able to use differences in genome elements in comparative investigations and to use them in the study of the roads of the genomes evolution; he be able to distinguish the functions of genes and uncoding regions of DNA; he understands specific the human genome on the background of other primates genomes, he has the skills to analyze the results of the primates genomes rearrangement, leading to speciation and different genetic disorders.Competences:
Student will posses knowledge from biology that will allow him to continue more specific studies in the future, carry scientific research and to be a biology teacher.Prerequisites:
zoology, morphology and systematic of plants, genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics.Course content:
genomes anatomy, genomes comparative analysis and phylogenetics, genomes functioning, the mechanisms of the genomes evolution, human and primates genomes building, the molecular basis of genetic disorders, occurrence of the man chosen genetic disorders.
