Learning outcomes: After course completion In area of knowledge 1. Student knows the external morphology of turkeys, guinea fowls, quails, ducks, geese and ostriches. 2. Student knows the basic principles of poultry breeding. 3. Student knows general roles of turkeys, guinea fowls, quails, ducks, geese and ostriches management and production. In area of skills 1. Student is able to recogize and indicate the external traits of turkeys, guinea fowls, quails, ducks and geese. 2. Student is able to recognize the phisiological status of different poultry species.

Competences: 1. Student is responsible for proper treatment of poultry and to organize the proper environmental conditions. 2. Student understands and is able to manage a proper rearing and keeping of selected poultry species. 3. Student is aware of the necessity of continuous updating the knowledge related to poultry breeding and reproduction.

Prerequisites: -

Course content: Characteristics of external body conformation and performance of turkeys, guinea fowls, quails, ostrich, ducks and geese. Their significance in Polish and world poultry production. Basic method of evaluation avian reproductive potency.

Assessment methods: Completion of the lectures and exercises together, based on the average ratings obtained from two short (20-30 minutes) written control tests and student’s activity during the classes. The presence on the classes is compulsory, the student may have only one unauthorized absence. In the case of excused absences the student is required to pass the relevant part of the material.
