Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student has advanced knowledge of legal protection of animals together with the existing legal acts in Poland and European Union, has knowledge of the legal mechanisms used in animal breeding, animal transportation and animal handling, understand what is the meaning of the animal protection during slaughtering as well as during the experiments on the animals, knows the scientific concepts of animal protection, indicates the possibility of practical use of knowledge in real life Skills:Student properly conducted the analysis of animal handling based on existing legal acts and using scientific terminology, properly interpret the legal regulations and suggest its practical use, correctly perform and interpret modern laws, using a existing regulations, on the basis of professional literature, formulate arguments regarding knowledge of animal protection, methods of assessment and classification of the animal health, discusses the possibilities of a solution of current problems, has the ability to prepare reports, project work, papers and other written assignments and presentations related to the subject object.

Competences: Student shows interest in updating the knowledge of animal protection and related disciplines; understands the need for analyze the state of animal protection, is able to schedule a task, adapting animal breeding to the proper conditions according to the existing legal procedures, is sensitive to nature as a set of cognitive and educational value, and is aware of the importance of animal protection, is aware of the potential risks to humans and animals resulting from non practicing the legal statements, has ethical attitudes towards animals.

Prerequisites: -

Course content: International conventions, Directives of EU Parlament and EU Council, Polish legal acts (main acts and ordinances), regulations of the animal handling on breeding farms, animal and biological material turnover, animal protection, experiments on animals etc.

Recommended literature: Available legislation on animal prtotection and welfare.
