Knows the effects of interial forces, and the conditions which must be met by a well-designed construction element subjected to any load.
Understands basis of the strength of materials, i.e. stress tensor and strain tensor.
Skills
Can determine state of stress and strain in a construction element.
Can dimension construction enement subjected to any load. Written and spoken tests
Competences:
Social competences
Can independently organize designer’s workshop
Understand responsibility of the construction engineer at design and construction stage of modern structures.
Prerequisites:
Knowlege from "Strenght of Materials" - winter semesterCourse content:
Strength of materials determines the effects of internal forces on the rod systems i.e. stresses, strains, displacements and energy, taking into account mechanical and physical properties of material.
Bent beam deflection. Bending of statically indeterminate beam. Complex cases of strength of materials – bending with shearing, eccentric compression. Stability of straight rods. Strength hypotheses.
