Learning outcomes: Knowledge: Student - has basic knowledge concerning technology of wind and water power plants, solar panels, geothermal systems and systems powered with biomass; characterizes properties and ways of use of renewable energy sources; distinguishes basic legislation on renewable energy sources. Skills: Student - can choose and define, according to the prevailing conditions, parameter of renewable energy systems; analyzes and assess the impact of renewable energy systems on the state of natural environment.

Competences: Student is active in searching of information concerning environment and particularly – renewable energy sources.

Prerequisites: -

Course content: Types of renewable energy resources. Harnessing of the power of wind, water, solar, biomass and geothermal energy. Economic, technical and practical potential of use of renewable energy. Renewable energy resources in the world. Technology of devices harnessing renewable energy sources, their division and types. The impact of renewable energy systems on the environment - environmental and social aspects.

Assessment methods: Students with positive note from exercises are obligate to pass single choice test (15 questions, 1 pt. for 1 Q, 8 pts. is a limit to pass, duration of test - 30 min) checking knowledge (W1-W3) of the material presented during the lectures.
