At the end of the course students should know the basic terms and methods used in recombinant DNA technology.Competences:
The completed course provides students with the minimum set of skills and knowledge to work in different types of diagnostic laboratories and companies using recombinant DNA technology.Prerequisites:
chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, microbiology
Course content:
Tools used to design of and analyze DNA, cloning (construction of recombinant DNA, cloning vectors, cDNA cloning, recombinant proteins, transgenic animals), analytical methods based on recombinant DNA technology (Southern and Northern blotting, RFLP, DNA fingerprinting, PCR as a diagnostic tools), DNA sequencing.Recommended literature:

Assessment methods:
Completed obligatory laboratory exercise with minimum 50% positives in tests and the final written exam and additional oral exam in second term. Minimum 60% of knowledge to finish the course.Comment:
