Polish / EnglishLearning outcomes:
After the course student is provided with the knowledge of the physical processes determining water cycle geoecosystems, basic measurements methodology and rules of meteorological and climatic data interpretation. Student can determine basic hydrological characteristics of uncontrolled and controlled catchments. Student knows methods of interpretation of measurement data and can practically apply knowledge in design work.Competences:
After the course student is able to correctly interpret meteorological, climatic and hydrological data. Student can choose the proper method of calculation depending on length of available time series and period of data. Student can elaborate meteorological, climatic and hydrological description of catchment.Prerequisites:
Mathematics, physics, fluid mechanicsCourse content:
Atmosphere structure. Greenhouse effect. Soil and air temperature, air humidity. Processes of water phases conversations – condensation and evaporation. Meteorological deposits, fogs and clouds. Climatic factors. Main features of Europe and Poland climate. Active and passive microclimatic meliorations. Synoptical and local weather forecasting. Reasons, consequences and effects of climate change. Scenarios of global climate changes. Surface waters, point and linear hydrographical objects. Physico-geographical catchment parameters. River systems, rivers classification. Hydrometry, measurements of water stages, discharges and sediment transport. Relationship of corresponding water stages. Rating curve of open channel. Measures of outflow and discharge. Ripple curve. Cumulative sum of discharge and water stages time duration. Probability distributions and their parameters estimation.
