Learning outcomes: During the course students get theoretical and practical knowledge about waste derivation and properties, most important principles of waste management (including hazardous and industrial wastes) and used methods of disposal and reuse waste materials and energy.

Competences: After passing the course students will know basic principles and legislations of waste management. Students are able to define quantity and properties of waste, choose optimal methods their recycling and disposal.

Prerequisites: Chemistry, Environmental chemistry, Ecology

Course content: The most important principles of waste management. Wastes derivation and properties, kinds of wastes. Municipal waste. Waste storage, transportation, selective collection, recycling and disposal. Possibilities of organic wastes biodegradation. Principles of disposal and reclamation of hazardous wastes. Industrial wastes: accumulation, recovery possibilities. Country waste disposal.
