Student acquires knowledge of the structure of DNA, can replace the principle of the genetic code, protein synthesis. Can introduce Mendelian genetics, linkage, crossing-over and genetic mapping. Able to discuss the mutation and mutagenesis, and he learned the basics of biotechnology, the use of in vitro culture and molecular markers. He can explain the sense of protection of genetic resources and the organization of the gene bank.Competences:
Positive pass course allows an understanding of development processes of living organisms, the importance of biotechnology and life sciences to better understand plant and animal breeding and evolution.Prerequisites:
botany, chemistry, biochemistryCourse content:
Genetics is the science of heredity and variation. Learning the rules of inheritance of genes and traits, identify and locate genes and the induction of mutations allows an understanding of the surrounding world. Knowing the latest developments in the field of biotechnology allows knowing methods of increasing the genetic variability and the role of biotechnology in breeding for the improvement of domesticated species.Recommended literature:
