PolishLearning outcomes:
Students will get the knowledge on the basic processes responsible for the functioning of plant cell and of plant organisms. After passing the course student knows how to use basic methods for investigation of physiological processes going on in plants ( i. e. transpiration, photosynthesis, respiration, plant nutrition , physiological effects of growth regulators, factors affecting physiological processes)Competences:
Knowledge in the realm of plant physiology ( theory and practice) obtained during the lectures and classes is necessary for further studies of such subjects as agriculture, horticulture, forestry, biotechnology and related sciences. Passing the course permits conducting simple examination of physiological processes going on in plants.Prerequisites:
Biology, biochemistry, biophysicsCourse content:
Lectures :Water relations of plants. Mineral nutrition. Respiration. Photosynthesis and photorespiration. Plant productivity. Translocation of minerals and assimilates. Growth and development. Regulators of plant growth.
Laboratory course: Methods of investigation of physiological processes going on in plants (respiration, photosynthesis, transpiration). Methods are used to calculate the concentrations of photosynthetic pigments , macroelements and microelements in plants
