Learning outcomes: During the course students get knowledge of basic techniques in vitro culture: micropropagation in horticulture, obtaining and using double haploids, somatic hybrids, artificial seeds, and virus free plants via meristems culture. Students learn of molecular markers for desirable traits selection and genetics mapping. Regeneration of transgenic plants and GMO horticulture plants development
Competences: Passing of the course of biotechnology in horticulture resulted in better understanding biotechnology in plant breeding
Prerequisites: Chemistry, plant physiology, biochemistry, and genetics and plant breeding
Course content: Biotechnology allows applying knowledge in practice for obtaining interspecific hybrids and more effective and shortening of plant breeding processes. Transgenic plants for improving varieties of cultivated horticulture crops
