Learning outcomes: The objective of the course is to give basic linux procedures: installation of the system, configuration, basic administration and networking.

Competences: Passing of the course will enable the student to use the linux and windows operating system and also office software.

Prerequisites: Mathematics

Course content: Installation of Linux operating system on PC class komputer, the basic disk operations, user administration, processes administration, encrypted connection by SSH, MS Windows with Linux cooperation. Working with windows operating system and office software (MS Office and Open Office).

Recommended literature: 1. Linux – dla uzależnionych od Windows, Miller M.J., Wydawnictwo Mikom, 2001. 2. Linux – podręcznik użytkownika, Siever E., Wydawnictwo Read Me, 1999.

Assessment methods: Passing grades of practical achievements, computer test from lectures knowledge – minimum knowledge required 60%.
