Learning outcomes: during the course a theoretical knowledge is gained permitting students to describe the structure of plant cell, to outline the function and development of vegetative organs and flowers of higher plants and to describe forms of reproduction in different groups of kingdom Plantae. Moreover, during a laboratory training they gained practical skills in elementary microscopic methods

Course content: Course contents: comparison of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, origin of a photosynthetic eukaryotic cells, the major groups of organisms, evolution of vascular plants, description of early vascular plants, the structure of plant cell, the grades of morphological organization, functions, morphology and anatomy of vegetative plant organs (root, shoot, leaf), primary and secondary growth, forms of reproduction, alternation of generations, development and structure of embryo, origin and structure of flowers, seeds and fruits.
