Students gain ability to use bioperl in nucleic acids and protein analysis, such as: phylogenetic analysis, searching for genes and other DNA features, sequence manipulation, internet and local database access. Competences:
The completion of this course allows students for use of public and local databases, amino acid and nucleic sequences conversion, searching for coding regions, promoters and other features on DNA sequence. Additionally students gain basic knowledge about programming in perl essential for creating and modifying existing perl and bioperl languages. The skills can be further used for their bachelor or master thesis, as well as in jobs involving research, genetic counseling, molecular biology, software development for molecular biology.
