Student will possess the overall knowledge of systematics, biology and ecology of freshwater macrofauna; student will also acquire the theoretical and practical skill of identification of freshwater invertebrates of Poland.Competences:
After completing the course students will be able to identify the representatives of freshwater invertebrate fauna of Poland, including economically important taxa, to apply the methods of collecting, laboratory rearing, preservation and dissection of freshwater invertebrates; the acquired knowledge will increase the qualifications of graduates who will be employed at research units of national parks and other institutions dealing with nature preservation as well as in invertebrate sections of zoological gardens.Prerequisites:
invertebrate zoology I and IICourse content:
Characteristics of lentic and lotic environments; animal associations of freshwater habitats; zoological nomenclature; systematic review of higher taxa represented in freshwater environments of Poland; practice of identification, biology and ecology of macrofauna.Recommended literature:
