Student learns about morphology, ecophysiology, migration, behaviour and acoustics of birds; he/she will be able to identify most species of the local avifauna; to record and to analyse avian calls and songs (sonograms); to identify and describe nest construction and its localization, and egg shapes and their colour patterns.Competences:
After having completed this course students can work as ornithologists, nature conservationists or biological teachers; they can collaborate with research institutions in Poland and abroad (atlasing, monitoring, nest cards, ringing); this course can also help to organize scientific societies.Prerequisites:
avian ecology, vertebrate zoology, general zoologyCourse content:
Ornithology as science; morpho-anatomical adaptations; speciation; migration, breeding biology; acoustics; behaviour.
