Student will posses the basic theoretical and practical knowledge of mammalian, avian and fish anatomy; oogenesis, vitellogenesis, steroidogenesis and spermatogenesis; egg formation, semen production and different methods of its evaluation; genetics and environmental factors affecting reproduction.Competences:
After completing the course student will be able to evaluate the reproductive potency of mammalian, birds and fishes using different techniques of analysis; will knew methods of semen storage and conservation in order to overcome problems related to reproduction; can be employed in laboratories working on semen evaluation and preservation.Prerequisites:
zoology, biochemistry ,cell biology, animal physiologyCourse content:
Biological basis of mammalian, bird and fish reproduction – anatomy of reproductive tract, oogenesis, spermatogenesis, fertilization, egg formation; genetics and environmental factors affecting reproduction; methods of reproduction, semen collection and female insemination; significance of artificial insemination in protection of genetic diversity of different species; techniques of evaluation the semen quality and fertilizing potency of spermatozoa; methods of semen preservation.
