Learning outcomes: Students have a basic knowledge about structure, life functions, taxonomy and ecology of microorganisms. They are also able to apply principal microscopic and culture techniques and differentiate main groups of microorganisms.
Competences:
Prerequisites: Biology, Biochemistry
Course content: Morphology, anatomy and life cycles of bacteria, actinomycetes, yeasts, filamentous fungi and viruses. Outline of physiology and taxonomy of microorgamisms. Interactions between microorganisms and environment. Natural habitats of microorganisms, their relatioship with other organisms and contribution to the life on our planet.

Assessment methods: Written exam, reports and practicals, 60% of knowledge required to pass the course.
Comment: The course in English will be avaliable if minimum of 6 students sign up for a group. If less than 6 students will sign up for the group the course will be avaliable in Polish with the possibility of individual support in English.
