Student gain skills of elaborating topographic and thematic maps. Student is able to choose appropri-ate mapping methods due to presented phenomena. He/She can elaborate maps based on mathe-matical and statistical methods of data processing. Knows the rules of creating thematic maps in GIS software.Competences:
Completion of the course enables to work on maps elaboration in survey and cartographic enterprises, and cartographic publishing house. Gives opportunity to work in public administration that deals with GIS – spatial analysis and thematic mapping.Prerequisites:

Topographic maps and cartographic data frames. Topographic databases. Thematic maps - classifica-tion. Source of data – metadata. Classification of data according to dimension, occurrence, levels of measurements. Data processing, data aggregation. Mapping methods and their characteristics. Com-puter cartography of cartographic model creation. Maps elaboration. Sozological and hyfrographical maps/databases. Thematic maps generalization.Recommended literature:
