Learning outcomes: Students have knowledge of seed production, inspection (field inspection of seed production fields and laboratory test), distribution and laws regelutaing seed sector
Competences: On successful completion of the course students will have knowledge necessary to work in seed companies and State Inspection of Crop Protection and Seed Production (variety registration and seed – certifying agencies)
Prerequisites: Genetics and Plant Breeding
Course content: History of seed production. Seed industry. Relationship of seed quality to crop performance. Laws reregulating seed sector. Variety evaluation, testing and registration.Inspection of seed production fields. Seed sampling for laboratory tests. Laboratory seed testing. Methods of improving seed quality.
