After completing the course students will know the statistical methods used when collecting, analyzing, interpreting or explaning data of biological origin.Competences:
Passing the course permits working in laboratories where the data of biological origin are processed using the methods of statistics (molecular and bioinformatics laboratories, research and clinical institutes, units evaluating the genetic merit of animals).Prerequisites:
Mathematics, computer scienceCourse content:
The overall purpose of the course is to provide students with theoretical background and practical skills concerning statistical methods used when summarizing or describing a collection of data (descriptive statistics), data modelling, and then to draw inferences about the process under investigation (inferential statistics).Recommended literature:
