Student understands the role of microbes in transformation of organic and mineral compounds in both water and soil. He knows the effect of external stimuli on development of these microorganisms. Student knows the interrelationships between pathogenic and saprophytic microorganism and their influence on plants and animals. He also knows microbial processes, which are used in food and fodder production. In addition, student knows the rules of sterile work with microorganisms. He is also able to use the microscope, to prepare the media and microscopic preparates. Competences:
Interpretation of the role of microbes in the environment; ability of basic microbial techniques applied to isolation of pure bacterial cultures; the identification of microbial cultures.Prerequisites:
Biochemistry, biology, chemistry and zoologyCourse content:
