After finishing the course student should know state of cattle husbandry in Poland and all over the world, direction of development cattle production, cattle origin, cattle breeds and type purpose, direction of production and their conditions, circumstances for calves and heifers rearing, reproduction in cattle, physiology of lactation, feeding systems in dairy cows during different stages of production cycle, systems of fattening and feeding beef cattle, including fattening of young cattle, housing system, performance and care of cattle.Competences:
Student should know the basic terminology from the range of cattle breeding and husbandry, cattle topography, differentiate and describe cattle breeds and type purpose, design different systems for calves rearing, design different systems and technologies for heifers rearing, compile different feeding technologies of dairy cows and design detailed feeding for dairy cows during different stages of the production, what to do during the milking and parturition, evaluate animals exterior, to do some
husbandry manipulations (ear clippering, pollarding).

Conditions of milk production in Poland and all over the world; trends in development of cattle husbandry, rudiments and technologies in calves rearing, rudiments and technologies in heifers rearing, reproduction in cattle, milk performance of cows and physiology of lactation, feeding dairy cows during different stages of production cycle, influence of feeding on cows performance, contents and characteristics of milk, beef performance and systems of cattle on hoof production. Housing systems, cattle performance, care of cattle. Practical with animals, projects, work in the laboratory and rules of evaluation cattle performance and evaluation of exterior.Recommended literature:
