After course students knows the possibilities of water management improvements (both quality and quantity aspects) as well as has practical skills of preparing water management strategic documents at local scale. Competences:

Global warming, climate change scenarios, consequences of changes in thermal and water balances. The main characteristics of the climate of Poland (transitional, changeable, contrastive) spatial and temporal distribution of air temperatures, precipitation, evaporation and water balance. Local climate and microclimate. The reasons of microclimatic differences, the main characteristics of selected topoclimates (forest complex, arable land, highlands and valleys, reservoir banks, urban heat islands). Water resources (quantities and qualities). Economic water demands (agriculture, industry). European Water Policy (barriers of development, problems and directions of water management). Water managements system in European Union (institutions, organizational solutions, administrative mechanism, public control). Water policy in Poland. Planning in water management. Economic aspects of water management. Integrated water management in agricultural catchments (nitrates directive, good agricultural practice). Ecological systems in water management. Land reclamations in the agricultural environment development. Phytomelioration and forestation in Poland. The amounts and quality of domestic wastewaters. Sewage systems. Small wastewaters treatment plants (plant-soil systems, wetlands, lagooning Lemna system). Construction and location of the small scale sewage treatment plants. Legal framework of construction process (water law documentation, construction permit for small scale water-sewage developments)Recommended literature:
