Learning outcomes: The student after completion of the course should: - know the forms and processes of formation of small towns - be able to identify and correct the urban forms of small towns - be able to identify the rural settlement system and compare with the concepts of the European countries - be able to characterize the importance of the cultural values in preserving and identity formation of village - be able to identify and define the basic elements for creation and promotion of village

Course content: Topics of classes are the following problem units: 1 Small town - definitions. Landscape of a small town, dominants, scenic axes characteristics 2 The urban layout of small towns in the historical aspect. The spatial and functional structure 3 Contributing factors for the development of small towns. Location in the settlement network, geographic location 4 Villages with the urban traditions 5 Green of small town, types, the species structure, age structure and sanitary structure 6 Regionalism and small towns 7 Village as a settler\'s body - conceptual and semantic matter. Historical morphological form as the basis for the modern form of the image. The essence of the multifunctionality and the semantic equivalence of the village function. 8 The components shaping the potential of the rural settlement body - exo-and endogenous conditions. Profiles of village from the twenty-first century 9 The regional identity - types, planes and aspects. Regional forms of the village development and the types and varieties of the rural building. 10 Elements of the territorial marketing - the village\'s image as an object of creation and promotion of the village values 11 An outline of the history of European rural settlement 12 The forms of the European rural settlement in the natural environment 13 The German, French, British, Dutch village in the settlement network 14 The transformation concepts of the European rural settlement 15 Repetitory
