Learning outcomes: The student has the ability to identify the main species of grassland plants, and can apply the basic principles of grassland management in terms of environmental protection. The student has the skills in livestock farming.

Competences: After finishing the course students will broaden the knowledge range of the basic rules and methods in establishing turf surfaces depending on the further purpose. Students know the rules of nurturing and usage of turf areas. The course allows you to explore the practical aspects of the properties in relation to the types of grasslands and their use. Students gain a general knowledge of: animal health, animal training methods, basic feeding, technology of sourcing of products of animal origin from farm animals.

Prerequisites: soil science, botany, plant physiology

Course content: Renovation and alternative methods of grasslands. Description the usefulness features and a morphology of grass species. Creating grass mixtures depending on the further turf purpose. Acquaint with a visual and functional assessment methods of turf surfaces. Hygiene of the culture medium. The importance of ethology and zoopsychologii in animal breeding. Inheritance of qualitative traits. Fundamentals of animal feeding. Types and breeds races of livestock and utility use.
