Student gains knowledge regarding processes of migration of contaminants in soil and groundwater, knows and understands numerical parameters of processes. Will be able to model migration of pollutants in groundwater for simple cases. Competences:
Theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the area of migration of contaminants in groundwater.Prerequisites:
Geology and geomorphology, Hydrology, Water management, Environmental chemistry, Soil science, Groundwater protectionCourse content:
Physical, chemical and biological properties of soil and groundwater environment. Phenomena and processes of contaminants migration in vadose and saturated zone: advection, diffusion and dispersion, sorption and retardation, degradation of contaminants. Mathematical description of migration processes in soil and groundwater environment. Analytical solutions of advection-dispersion equation and their use in forecasting of pollutants migration.Recommended literature:
