Learning outcomes: Student obtains ability to use biological methods of plant protection in horticultural crops. He is able to understand interactions between beneficial and destructive organisms which influence crop health.
Competences: Taking decision concerning utilization of beneficial organisms in protection of various horticultural crops.
Prerequisites: Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Entomology
Course content: Biology of most important bee species. Attractiveness of plants for bees. Pollen, nectar and honeydew. Antagonistic and parasitic microorganisms. Mode of action of beneficial microorganisms. The influence of environmental conditions on efficacy of biocontrol agents. The general rules of rational application of biocontrol agents.
