After completing the course students will know the theoretical and practical aspects of biodiversity research on different levels: genetic environmental etc.
Competences:
Passing the course permits working in institutions and organizations connected with conservation of nature (national parks, nature reserves etc.) and conservation of genetic resources.
Prerequisites:
molecular genetics, population genetics, plant and animal systematic, ecology
Course content:
The overall purpose of the course is to provide students with theoretical background and practical skills concerning different categories of biodiversity: 1) genetic biodiversity, 2) biodiversity of species, 3) functional biodiversity etc.; methods of biodiversity estimation; biodiversity conservation.
