W1 –knows the processes related to avian biology and the possibilities of applying the obtained knowledge in social and economic life [KB2_W04];
W2 – posses advanced knowledge on avian physiology [KB2_W01_BŚ];
W3 – knows the avian behavior in the natural environment concerning conquesting of food and partners, nesting period [KB2_W02_BŚ];
W4 – knows the methods of assisted birds reproduction; posses the knowledge of transgenic bird significance and creation; knows the basis of avian [KB2_W09_BT].

U1 - identifies the species of selected order of birds on the basis on morphological and anatomical traits; understands their role and significance in nature and human life [KB2_U01_BŚ];
U2 – evaluates the role of human in natural environment in relation to significance of birds [KB2_U02_BŚ];
U3 – evaluates and indentifies the reproductive potency of birds, controls birds reproduction using biotechnological methods (artificial insemination, sperm cryopreservation); applies methods of assisted reproduction in creation of gene ex situ in vitro and in protection of endanger avian species [KB2_U10_BT].

Prerequisites:
zoology, animal physiologyCourse content:
birds significance in nature and food production; morphology, physiology and anatomy of selected organs; technology of egg incubation, embryo development; biological analysis of egg incubation; nutritive and functional properties of hen eggs and poultry meat; nutrition, growing and behavior at different stages of bird life; creation of the transgenic birds; protection and gene pools preservation. Assessment methods:
Completion of the course: Completion of the lectures and exercises together, based on the average ratings obtained from two short (20-30 minutes) written control works and student’s activity during classes. The presence on the exercises is compulsory, the student may have only one unauthorized absence. In the case of excused absences the student is required to pass the relevant part of the material.Comment:
