After completing the course students will know the genetic background of biodiversity as well as statistical methods used when analyzing genetic diversity within and between populations.Competences:
Passing the course permits working in institutions dealing with environment protection (national parks, nature reserves, botanical and zoological gardens) as well as laboratories where biodiversity of plant and animal species is conserved (plant and animal genetic material banks, animal conservation centres).Prerequisites:
molecular genetics, population genetics, plant and animal systematicsCourse content:
The overall purpose of the course is to provide students with theoretical background and practical skills concerning conservation of genetic biodiversity with the use of molecular and population genetics methods.Recommended literature:
